2020 FASNY GAMES AT GREEK PEAK

On February 8th,  the Virgil Fire District  had two teams participate in the 2020 FASNY games.  They had a  great time.  They took on a team mate from Whitney Point Fire and two from Glenwood NY(Long Island). They  played their hearts out and showed it that it doesn't matter where you are from, we can all work together.  They finished in second place in the tug of war competition, losing to our neighbors from Killawog. What they enjoyed most  of all was spending time their brothers and sisters from  across the state.  Huge shout out to FASNY and Greek Peak for hosting and putting this event  together.

Training Session Highlights

On March 19th the Virgil Fire Department  had a training session. They invited the Marathon Cub Scouts Pack 90 join them for  some fire prevention  training and for a tour of the Fire Station. They showed the Pack their gear, extrication equipment,  and they preformed a donning drill. They also showed and let them hear what was like to use a SCBA.  Then also preformed a light and siren  demo, water supply demo, how to throw ladders , a hand line deployment demo, and what it is like to do deck and gun operations.  A highlight of night was when one cub scout was  originally scared out of his wits of them, gave Firefighter Zach Saltsman a big hug. There was a  great turn out by the members and the Pack 90.  They are grateful to all who participated.
